3D Prototyping

We offer CNC machining and 3D printing prototyping that allows our clients to realize a part within 3 to 7 days. Our services are affordable and our prototypes are outstanding.

CNC Plastic Machining

CNC refers to Computer Numerical Control. CNC machining is, therefore, a prototyping process where a machine is controlled by a computer to produce a part. While other methods of prototyping are limited mostly to resins, CNC machining can be done using different materials including metal and plastic. It is thus ideal when prototypes need to be prototyped in the material that will finally be used to make them.
CNC plastic machining prototypes can take slightly over a week to prepare and cost more. Nonetheless, it yields high-quality samples that are realistic and present a true replica of the part to be produced.

Our Capabilities on CNC Machining

Fast Turnaround Times

We have multiple CNC machines that enable us to produce numerous samples at the same time and deliver within 7 to 10 days.

Material Selection

KI offers a wide selection of materials for CNC prototyping. We can also source other materials from authentic suppliers.

Accuracy and Tolerances

Our CNC machines have high tolerances of up to +/- 0.002mm. They are programmed to produce parts with very high precision.

Larger Dimensions

Our CNC machines can produce larger prototypes than digital methods.

Our Diverse Material Options For CNC Plastic Machining

We offer more than 50 thermoplastic material options for CNC machining. They are of the same high standard that would be used in producing end-products. They include:

If you require alternative materials that are not on our complete list we are glad to source them for you.

KI CNC Machining Prototypes

We have over 4 decades of experience in creating CNC prototypes. Our sample catalogue is wide and covers all sectors.

Custom 3D Plastic Printing Service

In 3D prototyping, designs are uploaded onto a 3D printer which prints them in 3 dimensions using resins. The quality of the prototype produced is determined by the quality of the printer and resin material that is used. A quality 3D printer delivers prototypes with accurate design details and high tolerances.

3D printing is fast and can take as little as 3 days. It is also more affordable than other prototyping methods. However, 3D printers have a limited print volume and thus can only produce prototypes within a particular size range.

Types of 3D Printing Services

Selective laser sintering (SLS)

SLS is popular because it is fast, affordable, and delivers parts with great resolution. It is a go-to 3D prototyping method for parts like automotive prototypes that Involve high mechanical functionality.

Fused deposition modeling (FDM)

FDM is suitable for producing large prototypes. It is an equally great solution if you require flexibility on material options when using engineered thermoplastics like ABS or PC.

Stereolithography (SLA)

SLA is one of the most commonly used 3D printing methods. It is recommended for achieving impeccable surface finishes and clear prototypes. It delivers outstanding print resolution as well.

Why 3D Printing is Necessary
For Injection Molding?

Short Lead Times

3D plastic prototypes can be completed within 1 to 5 days depending on the method used and the part design. This facilitates fast delivery of prototypes.

Cost Efficiency

3D printing uses resins and produces prototypes to scale. This, coupled with fast turnaround times, makes it affordable even when multiple prototypes are required.

Structural Integrity

3D-printed prototypes produced using quality resins are long-lasting and can withstand testing and evaluation processes without falling apart. Their structures are also stable and functional.

Prototyping Versatility

There is no limit to the part designs that you can produce via 3D printing. The part design just needs to be feasible and well-illustrated.

Precision

Top-grade 3D printers are highly accurate when executing part designs. They replicate dimensions like wall thickness as presented in the sketch uploaded onto the printer.

Part Production

Injection molding prototypes make it possible to evaluate and correct part designs within a short time. This makes injection molding part production run more efficiently.

Our 3D Prototyping Material Options

It is important to choose the right type and quality of material for prototyping because it greatly impacts the end-product. This is why we only use authentic materials from certified suppliers. Our material options include:

We also make custom material orders on request.

KI 3D Printing Prototypes

Rapid Prototyping to Save You Time and Money

If you want to know how the end product will look like before it’s produced through injection molding or to test ites dimensions and compatibility, KI can offer you rapid prototyping and 3D printing (Additive Manufacturing) services. It’s a good solution for testing your concept quickly and cheaply.

What you can get from our prototyping service:

Speed & Quality

With 3D printing and prototyping, you can get a finished product in only 3-7 days. The sample maintains a high degree of similarity in appearance and performance of your part. The prototype can represent the complex geometries, thin walls, tight tolerances and other ultra-fine details in the end product, giving you a way to facilitate an efficient and cost-effective evaluation before starting the mold production.

Methods & Materials

Though prototypes are not meant for long-term use, we use production grade thermoplastics so that the 3D printed models are just like any plastic component. Multiple plastic options are available for an economical means of producing concept samples. Different printing methods such as ABS and SLA are provided to better take care of all your 3D prototyping needs.
